陶瓷金卤灯的最大优点是发光效率特别高,光效高达80~90Lm/W,正常发光时发热少,因此是一种冷光源。由于金属卤化物灯的光谱是在连续光谱的基础上迭加了密集的线状光谱,故显色指数特别高,即彩色还原性特别好,可达90[%]。另外,金属卤化物灯的色温高,可达5000~6000K,专用投影机灯可达7000~8000K。在同等亮度条件下,色温越高,人眼感觉越亮。

金属卤化物灯因亮度高、体积小,故相对寿命较短,由于材料、工艺的限制,金属卤化物灯的另一个缺点是启动困难,必须用专门的触发器。启动后亮度系逐渐增加,如果启动能量过大,启动速度过快,会影响灯泡寿命,在电路设计时应充分考虑。

Due to the limitation of materials and technology, another disadvantage of metal halide lamp is that it is difficult to start, so special trigger must be used. The brightness system increases gradually after start-up. If the start-up energy is too large and the start-up speed is too fast, the lamp life will be affected.
